How can I repair my Mountfield Lawnmower?

My mountfield Lawnmower (Honda GCV135) 4.5 keeps stalling but if the choke is full on it manages to idle: I have changed the plug and inspected the carb but can't find any problem: any ideas?

my clutch cable snapped,, to repair would cost £12-50 for cable plus £40 labour plus vat £70 pounds.. i purchased a rear brake cable for £1.24 from wilkinsons and fitted in one hour (sp534 mounfield ) there must be a lesson here ! my petrol tank split last year and i fitted a makeshift tank to the side of the old one,,, where theres a will theres a way.

The idle screw on the carb had come loose; a quick tighten and all was well, only took two days to sort it out! Many thanks for your replies.

Almost certainly the carb has water in it. Undo the carb drain screw on the float bowl. Any water will be readily apparant. Water blocks the carb jet, causing this problem.

Seems to have a few things to try. I have the same problem. I'll try what it says tomorrow. Have you managed to resolve your problem?

Have you checked the idle screw on the carburettor?
