i drove through a flooded road, afterwards the car run ok for half an hour, but the next day it seems to misfire and there is a strong smell of petrol coming from the exhaust also it has lost alot of power can anyone tell me how to fix this problem thanks

i had similar mishap and i found it was a ht lead that had shorted out through the water damaged , changed plugs and lead . still the same so changed coil pack and all ok now..the water got through perished rubber on lead..
so car was missing badly and fuel comsumption went out the window..
