Amilo Li1718 CD drive not recognised?

My laptop has decided to no longer let me rip cds....or even play cds! When I go to my computer the cd drive icon has vanished - any ideas?

it si due to the cd drive losing contact. try to push the drive in and the tighten the screw . it will work. i had a similar problem and thats how i fixed it
