White Knight CL847 - 29 July 2005?

Dryer operates for a minute then completely stops I checked the exhaust and it was blocked solid with concetrated fluff. I freed it and still have the same problem. How can i tell what is still faulty.
The heater, the main switch at the front door, the temperature stat to avoid over heating (somewhere inside) or the exhaust stat?

The operation is when start button is pressed - anticrease light comes on for 2 seconds then goes off as the drum turns for 5 seconds then the drum changes direction and the fan starts up and lasts for approx. 1 minute before the main fan and drum stops and the appliance will not come back on, untill i hit the start button again, which repeats this cycle.
There is an automatic sensor for when the clothes are ready so how do i check all these. I checked these settings with wet clothes inside.

Can anything be by-passed to check or is there an operation or diagnostic flow chart anywhere.

thanks Mark 29 July 2005

My issue with the model cl847 white knight sensor dryer is that the start button does not always stay pushed in. If it stays in, works fine, if pops out immediately, drum rotates for about 30secs then stops.
Have to keep pressing start button until it stays in.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE?????????????????????

Had the same fault. Replacement brush fixed it.

Yep, it's a sensor thing! there's a steel band around the outside of the drum. (remove top cover to see). This band is connected to the internal sensors on the fins of the drum (metal strips inside of the drum on the fins). There is a carbon brush assembly on top of the drum which is uppermost when the top cover is removed, which, if worn, or worn so badly the spring pushes it out, there is no connection from the drum sensors to the circuit board, therefore the machine believes the clothes to be dry, and therefore stops. (That's if a machine is capable of believing)! A new brush assembly is required. Part No 421307845023. Replaced mine today cost £3-50. Probably get it even cheaper online. Works fine now. Hope this avoids a call out for someone.

I had same problem.
I cleaned the electrical brush that runs on top of the outside of the drum (under the removable top panel to the machine), and the machine started working again - I have no idea why.
Overheating did not seem to be cause with mine as the machine would not run in 'no-heat' programme mode.

i have the same problem did you ever solve it

sounds like somthing is still getting hot, there is a temp sensor at the bottom on exhust near fan also a cut out on back when gets too hot and one next to the heater coils. all of these will cut the power and reset the machine, also the door catch.

It will be one of these getting too hot, they are only about 10~£ each so change all and for 30 £ it is fixed.
