white knight CL447wv tumble dryer?

my dryer heats up no problem-in fact the dryer sides and top are very hot to the touch but the drum will not turn. the motor makes a constant humming noise and the timer appears to work normally. also the belt is not broken. i want to check out the motor brushes but access to the screws is from the awkward side of the motor. is there any other part like the motor capacitor on the side that i can try replacing first and what other likely fault could it be that i would have to eliminate?
any advice greatly appreciated
