Computer Audio?

I have just lost the sound on my Viglen (XP Home) and cannot find any reference on how to rectify.
Has anyone got some ideas? Speakers and connections are sound.

Have you installed a game or something that might alter it?
Have you tested with different speakers?
Are there any ???? in system?
Typically a sound card uses a lot of IRQs so it might be an IrQ conflict>
Have you put any new hardware in?

easier way
windows desktop > right click my computer > hardware > device manager > expand audio controllers > right click on the audio one > uninstall > yes

reboot ...it should then detect it and reinstall it, you can also download the drivers from manufacturer website

Thanks Gary. I tried this without success, but meanwhile a friend gave me the cure. This was -
Start button >Program Menu>Accessories Menu>Entertainment Menu>Click on Volume Control.
Ensure that volume levels are high and that mutes are not ticked. I hope this will help others.

try using system restore. click on start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore. and restore to a time when your sound worked.
