poor fuel economy, honda accord 1987?

i have a 87 honda accord, i am only getting about 400km out of 50 litres of fuel, the compression is 150 psi across the board
the plugs are new as well as rotor, cap and wires, air filter is clean, it is carberated, it runs perfect, any help would be appreciated. thanks, michael

Hi Michael, well for starters your engine is down 45psi on compression, so this will greatly affect the fuel consumption and a 1987 car is never going to give the fuel consumption of any modern car and it will greatly depend on how you drive, the kind of journeys you do and where you are driving, if its at a higher than sea level area the engine will be giving a worse consumption also being carburettored it is not the most efficient method so wear in the carb will cause higher consumption, it might be worth getting the CO2/HC content in the exhaust emmisions checked this would show up a richer fuel mixture giving poor L/KM
