The Alternator/water pump drive belt has broken off, car still runs with limited charge, any tips how to replace this very long belt, or any schematic engine diagrams to establish the engine layout would be also very appreciated......thanks guys.....

HI not a great deal really. Once you have got your belt (do check its the right one as they changed in 2000 and one is only 5mm longer than the other but it matters!!) Also if your car has air-con then also this can affect type) You can download a diagram of how the belt goes around the pulleys easy enough if you google. Then you will need to support the engine using a piece of strong wood and a trolley jack from underneath. Once supported you will need to remove the engine mount on the pulley side to allow you to get the belt on. Then simply pull back the belt tensioner (using a ring/socket spanner) (its on a spring arrangement) Fit the belt, making sure its all seated right in the appropriate grooves. Then release the tensioner, re-fit engine mount and remove jack. It really is easier than it sounds. mb
