how can i fix my vauxhall zafira brake pads?

how do i get the caliper piston back to fit new rear brake pads to my 2003 zafira 2.0 dti

does this apply to all zafira vehicles have 1600 2004 having trouble fitting piston on rear breaks too ?

A pair of long nose pliers worked well for me, just screw clockwise and push a bit. They are a real pain to get off.

The pistons need to be srewed clockwise as well as pressed at the same time. Vauxhall have a special tool for this, when I did mine I used a G clamp with a piece of rubber on the end, when the G clam was tightened it also turned the piston.

Hi Paul, the piston needs to be rotated clockwise to retract it you can buy a special tool to do this halfords sell them but if your careful and use a rag to protect the piston you can use pipe grips or on some pistons they have an allen key hole in the base of the piston others have a castled top on the piston then you need a flat bit of steel to wind the piston in.
