They suggest uninstalling the scanner files and reinstalling with the drivers offered free on the website, about 9.3MB
I have not tried this yet, but have the same problem with a Visioneer 9000 One Touch scanner. I opened the scanner and concluded that the problem is in the sotware, it is not a mechanical failure.
