why does engine shut off when blades engaged?

i have a craftsman gt 3000 21 hp riding lawnmower with a koehler engine,why does it shut off when i engage the blades?

I suspect you have a safety interlock problem. The mower has a switch under the seat that is supposed to shut it down if you get off (or fall off) the seat with the blades engaged. If the switch is faulty, the mower will 'think' you're not on board, and shut down.
