Immobiliser Fault?

Hi Petrol Heads,
Immobiliser Fault. I have just bought a Renault Clio 1.4i Sport 1998 (R Reg).
My mate who I bought it off had just bought a new infra-red eye after the old one got wet due to a leaking sunroof, needless to say it didn`t work?? So now I have no central looking and the car won’t start?? I only have 1 key with no numbers init  but luckily enough the service manual had the key No: init which is p494923 and the car type No: is c57j which equates to code 4133.
I tried this code using the central looking button but to no avail.
But it does start if I disconnect the battery with the ignition on and then reconnect it starts just for 1 second then dies???
Also after putting in the code I now have a light on the dash (injection warning light) flashing as the same rate as the Engine immobiliser light fitted in the central looking button?
Any ideas would be much appreciated???

PS This is a quick way of testing your infra-red key fob (plip (or any IR transmitting device)) use you mobile phone camera it picks up infra-red light and will show up on your screen as blue/white.

You need to check that the code is correct , and how are you entering the code , because if the code is correct the red led will stay on , or come on then go out if the red led is flashing then the code is incorrect, and on older car you get a choice of two codes but only one of them is correct, try and phone a renault dealer with the chassi number and you plip key number and see if they will give you both codes , you might need to pop into the dealer because they might wont to see your log book as proof you have the vehicle.
