macculloch 1000 pro chainsaw?

My macculloch 1000 pro will not work with the chain brake aparatus in place.no ignition etc but as soon as i remove the chain brake assembly the chain saw will fire up & sounds quite healthy. Can u tell me if there is an inbuilt cut out switch or something similar within the chain brake assembly. Im stuck with this problem. The chain saw was a gift & i was told there was a problem with the operation of this chain saw. Thanks for any advice fowarded.

It sounds as though your chain brake is "ON". Try pulling back on the chain brake bar at the front of the saw. It may take a good bit of pressure to unlock the brake. It will kind of snap back if you pull hard enough. It may take about 10 pounds of pressure to get it unlocked. If it snaps back towards the saw grip, that should solve your problem. Try starting the saw and see what happens.
