how to derestrict a honda sky sgx50?

i have a 2001 honda sky vetro sgx50 i have found that 30 mph is far too slow how can i make it go faster by derestricting it?
e.g remove the washer from the exhaust! what other things can be done to make it faster?

Hi,
I also have a Honda Sky 50 T reg 1999.
Just completed the removal of the exhaust washer. Goes much better now & pulls & accelerates much quicker. I took it do my local bike shop to take the washer out of the front variator, but they said it did not have one fitted. It still only does about 33 mph.
Do you know if they are restricted electronically via the CDI unit ?. If so hwta do I need to do to get it going faster ?.

Oh no I've made many adjustments first it has a polini race variator with 7g rollers a 72cc malossi stage6 piston and barrel with high compression head, a malossi torsion controller and spring, a Leo vince tt custom made race pipe, kevlar drive belt pm tuning racing clutch, etc by taking washers out you will only gain 1 or 2 mph u need to rebuild the entire engine to make it do 60+mph

you say it goes over 60 but is this after the washer has been removed or are there other adjustments you have done?

If you are still interested in making it faster i have made mine do 62mph indicated on clock on a flat bypass will go anywhere above 50 even uphills way off clock down hill lol but you dont have to make it that fast what speed r u looking for?

i dont know if your still connected to this! but you mention taking the washer out of the exhaust, i want to derestrict mine cus, same as you, ive found its a bit slow!! is it simple to remove the washer or would i need to take it to a garage?!!! also where abouts in the exhaust is the washer? near the end bit or middley bit or the bit that is nearst to the engine? as you can tell im great on mechanics!

remove the washer in between the variator also take exhaust off and you will find where the hole of the exhaust goes in the head it is small in the exhaust drill this out and also if you see an extended pipe on your exhaust that goes to nothing then cut this off and put a weld over this then hey presto all done sounds easy it is any questions call me 07766385302
