I have a Renault Megane Sport 5 dr.My immobiliser has been playing up.Thought it was the batteries so had these replaced but now the key fob won't work at all.The light on fob flashes but central locking wont and can't deactivate immobiliser.Car is stuck in the road! I have 4 weeks till my baby is due so need to sort this out asap.Renault dealer wants me to get car to them to look at but money is tight and I can't start the engine to get it there anyway! Hi Mark. The 4 digit code inside my key is 8214 .... have tried repeatedly following instructions to enter this but ends up with both the immobiliser light and ignition light flashing rapidly??
My chassis No. is: VF1BA0F0217013274 .... it would be great if you could confirm what my 4 digit number is.
I also had my spare key mended and re-housed, and though it works with the camera check, it needs reprogramming apparently? So instructions for how to do that would be fantastic, if you know.
Many Thanks

It seems very common, Renault charged me £10 for the code and I can start the car( it only had a flat battery) key appears to work as I have checked with a digital camera but it does not operate central locking anymore so I have to recode each time Any pearls of wisdom out there please?

What happened to your Renault key fob? Did you have to get a new one

Kash, September 2008
First of all you can check to see if the plip key is sending a signal by using the camera on your phone ,just point the plip at you camera phone and press the plip if you see a white light , the plip is sending a signal if not then you need to resolder the transmitter diode back onto the circuit board then see if the plip works ,if the plip is not working after that,it possable , that the plip is now faulty, now you can still start the engine if the plip does not work , but you will need the 4 digit immobilser code , try asking for the code on this site, someone might be able to get it for you , but you might have to give you chassi number for them to get the code, when you have the code the way to enter te code is by using the central locking button, this is how it is done , switch the ignition on ,say for example your code is 1234, then you press and hold the central locking button untill you see the red led flash once on the instrument panel, then let go ,then press it again and hold it untill you have counted 2 flashers of the red led , then let go of the switch, then press the button and hold it untill you have counted 3 flashers, then let go ,do the same for the 4th digit , and if you have entered the code correctly the red led should stay on ,and if it does just start the engine, ,but if you switch the ignition of and leave it for more than 1 min you will have to enter the code again ,so you can start the engine and you will have to do this each time you leave the car , if you are struggling to get the immobilser code , just put you chassi number down and i will see what i can do , hope this helps .
