generator and cordless batteries?

i was using a generator to re-charge my hitachi cordless on site.i'd been doing it for weeks when someone told me that doing this ruins the memory on the battery.does it? it has been running down quickly lately and i'm wondering is it now knackered?any help would be appreciated

Hi, most rechargeable batteries develop a memory, so if you only use 50% of the full charge and then recharge them and keep doing this they tend to then only give the full charge for 50% of the time, ideal method is to totally flatten them before recharging this will ensure a better battery life, but the batteries only have a limited amount of time that they can be discharged and recharged NICAD are worse tham LiON for this
