BOSCH PSB 24 VE- 2 faulty spindle lock chuck jammed HELP!?

For some reason the spindle lock on my BOSCH PSB 24 VE just keeps turning without gripping as it should in order to remove the chuck - I have tried to remove the keyless chuck & managed to take the whole EPICYCLOIDAL GEAR TRAIN section off but still no chuck removal. Does the drill have to be completely put back together to remove the chuck or is it easier removing the EPICYCLOIDAL GEAR TRAIN first?
Please help as it is driving me crazy!!

The chuck is held on with a grub screw, just put a phillips screwdriver down the chuck and undo the screw. It will come striaght off after that

if you open the chuck all the way (as if to receive a bit) there is a screw in there.

you can find schematics on sites that sell bosch replacment parts.
