There are 2 gray latches on the top of the cleaner's base. Turn them to the open position. Then the cover can be lifted up from the back, and hinged forward. Pull out the brush roller, put the belt on the motor spindle and brush roller. Refit brushroller back into base. It will take some stretching of the belt, so expect resistance as you do this. Then, put your cover back on.
