18 hp briggs and stratton engine wire?

I have a 1993 18 HP briggs and stratton yardman riding lawn mower and there is a red wire and a black wire that is connected to a quick connect plug on one side of the engine and there is a blue wire coming out of the magnito on the other side of the engine. can anyone tell me what these wires go to. thanking you in advance, Jerry A Glenn. my E-Mail address is mar5jer@msn.com, I really need to know where these wire go to so that I can get my riding lawn mower going.I looked all over the motor to find the serial , model and code number, but it is not there.

The red/black connector is a DC output from the alternator (for charging the battery, lights etc), and the blue wire is the STOP wire (comes from the magneto, and will stop the engine if grounded). Exactly where they go to depends on the wiring on the tractor, but typically the blue wire will connect to the ignition switch 'M' terminal (must ground this wire when switch is OFF). The black will connect to chassis ground, and the red will connect to battery +'ve. Battery +'ve should also connect to ignition switch terminal 'B'. Anl powered accessories should connect to ignition switch 'L' (must have battery voltage when switch ON). Starter solenoid connect to ignition switch 'S' (must have battery voltage when switch turned to 'START'). Your switch may have terminals labelled differently, but you get the idea.
