Broken Key Fob?

I have an 2000 X Reg 1500 Nissan Almera. My key fob seems to have broken, I've changed the battery but it still does not work. Anytime I use the key to unlock my car the alarm is activated until I jump in the car and start the engine. Is there anyway of deactivating this as Nissan want about £90 for replacing the key and need to keep my car for a few hours in order to do so? Thank you.

Try buying a set of 2 fobs on ebay. I bought mine for £9.

The following link tells you how to re-program the keys yourself. Quite easy steps to follow.

Go to any reputable local locksmith. The company I work for charges $15.00 usd to replace the shell the electronics are housed in. If the electronics are damaged we replace remote key combos for about 2/3 of dealership prices and it can usually be done within 15 min.
