I have a 1989 Toyota Pickup 2 wheel drive 4 cylender carb. standerd edition. About 2 weeks ago my smog pump sized up. Will the have any effect on the mastercilnder working properly.
I was stoped at a light and my pedel sowly went to the floor, i let go and pushed again the breakes worked fine but then after a few secounds it went to the floor again. like when bleeding. Then they stoped working alltogether. I have check all the pads on all four wheels, they are good. The back breakes were a little stiff on one side of the drum. I adjusted the tention they worked a littel better. I have noticed the vacume line goes to the bottom of the the smog pump will this have any effect of the mastercylinder working properly. What other thing will have proplems becouse the smog pump or the air conditoning are not working. Just what dose the smog pump do. My e-maile is bob_n_marcy@earthlink.net.

The smog pump has to do with the emissions on the vehicle, that it runs smoothly and clean. The brake system you would want to get that checked for any leaks or the master cyclinder is going or gone.
