I have a kawi 97' ZX-6 and its been sitting around the backyard for at least 8 months maybe even a bit longer and i recently change the battery and the oil and as soon as i did that the motor tried to turn over but it wouldn't kick. Can i have a few extra things that i should do?

See if you can remove the air filter box, to reveal the carburettor inlets beneath. Pour a small amount of raw fuel down each choke, and see if the engine starts to fire. Chances are that any fuel left in the tank since the lay off is now completely useless so get rid of that and replace with fresh stuff. See that the choke mechanism is working at the same time. If still no joy, take the plugs out and replace them with new - and check for a spark before you put them in.
