Overheating?

I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX 85,000 miles Automatic 1.7L Engine

My engine keeps overheating while I'm driving slow, stopping on stop lights, in traffic, etc. When I start driving again, it starts falling. When I accelerate really fast, for example, to pass a vehicle, the temperature shoots up almost immediately. When I'm on the highway, everything is fine. I have changed the thermostat and the antifreeze and coolant is at the level it should be. Any suggestions of what could be the cause for this?

Thank you in advance!

Check for leaks in your hoses, Is the civic automatic or standard? When you have added antifreeze/water to the radiator and fill tank is the level lower a day or two later? When you are parked our at idle is there a leak (other then the air conditioner) under your car? if so follow the leak and you should find your problem but never mess with the radiator when car is hot!!!!! If no leak from under the car, when radiator is cooled down (about an hour) check and see if the cap ,when tightened stops or if keeps on turning. If it keeps turning its the cap or radiator neck stripped.
