A long belt snapped while I was riding my craftsman tractor mower. I could not longer engage the gears. Can you tell me what belt that might be so I can buy one and have a smart relative replace it for me. The tractor is about 10 years old. What should I be looking for when I go to the store or order online? What is the belt called

Sounds like the transmission drive belt has snapped. At 10 years old, it's about due! Not difficult to fit, but the cutter deck will have to come off.

It's called a drive belt. The same thing happened to me.
