My (9 year old) Vaillant combi boiler has just stopped producing hot water?

My boiler has just stopped producing hot water. The heating still works, but the hot water will not kick in. Any ideas, before I call out a plumber.

sounds like the dhw flow switch is not making and demanding hot water when you open the taps
