petrol hedge trimmer doest not cut but works?

The machine works the blades moves but when you try to cut the hedges it just doesn't cut

If it is a McCulloch model the problem lies with either a broken clutch drum or primary drive gear or both. They are available from espares @ £20 apiece. In my opinion this makes the repair uneconomic . In the past I replaced the clutch drum on mine. But I think the design is crap and under engineered as it failed again 2 seasons later & the forums are littered with questions about this drive gear. A £30 electric from Argos with 2 year warranty is much better option

Hi I have the same problem. so I took the plate off the
gear end and found that the screw had come off from
"a round bit with two holes in it" there is, what seems to be a counter rotation system with two wheels controlling the up and down of the two blades.
Unfortunately I dont know which way is the correct
way to re-assemble them, and I am awaiting an answer
from this page and also from Ryobi the manufacturers.
If I get an answer I will post it ...MIKEDEKITE

Hedge trimmers will only cut up to a thicknes of about 10mm anything more you will need a chain saw.

Are the bolts down the middle of the hedge blade tight?
