Have recently had new tyres ,front discs and new front brake pads and also a rear back box on the exhaust fitted recently to a 2001 C5, costing a small fortune, was told to be careful for a couple of hundred miles when braking to bed the new pads in, but after roughly 500 miles the brakes failed and luckily averted a near miss, took the car back to the garage and they said that the brake pipes could be damaged, I had noticed that the brake fluid resevoir was very hot, could this be true, as when they tested the brakes for me one side was not braking well and was also told that the pipes could be allowing air into the system, what is worrying me was the fact prior to the work being done braking was fine, one of the engineers did mention that the side not braking well was showing uneven wear on the pad, could this be a genuine issue, or are they trying to cover a cock up!
