on my screen wen i go to record something the word protection comes on in the middle of the screen flashing and i cant record on it how do i get rid of it?
It turns out that it was actually as my reply from 2011 says. For some reason the person putting the Samsung together didn't see fit to anchor down the acrylic pcb strip where there is a mounting hole in the metal carriage thus allowing the pcb strip to bow out and catch on something on the frame of the camera which has mangled the pcb strip enough to cut some of the copper lines carrying the current to the various places. Taking the carriage apart looks a daunting prospect but I have taken a sequence of snapshots of how to unscrew everything in order, to be able to extract the carriage if anyone is interested?

It could be that the flexible pcb strip inside the tape compartment has broken on the line which checks the state of inserted tapes. The flexible pcb strip looks just like the same thing on the back and underside of printer ink cartridges. My VP-D101 has got the same problem but it's possible to get replacement parts if you're brave enough to do it yourself or find a friend who is good with electronics as repair companies can charge you more than the camera is worth, as I've found out.

you have pushed the yellow thing on the tape which prevents you from taping over, just push the yellow thing back and then you should be able to record
