I have a 1998 micra 1300 and when I am in 5th gear I get a fine vibration coming through the gearstick. Touch it or hold it and it goes off although you can still feel it. I'm thinking possible a linkage worn. Any ideas??

no not yet. It Started at high speeds in fifth 60+ but now it starts as soon as I select fifth and stays right through to 70

I,ll get under it in the next few weeks when the rain stops and look at the linkages as I think that is the problem

5th gear vibration on Micra 1998? Same problem as Frank Reed..?
98 Micra 1.3 GX. My 5th gear shakes at speeds above 70mph. Drove to Heathrow the other day holding the gear lever and my hand was shaking afterwards!! Frank Reed: Did you find the route of the problem? My mechanic told me it may be the gear linkage rod. Any suggestions would be welcome.
