how to replace clutch cable on Hayter Harrier 48 auto drive?

Can you tell me how to access the clutch cable connection under the mower's covers in order to fit a new one?
John Devine, May 2008
The new clutch cable will come with spring on one end with adjuster and a cranked nipple on the other with a plastic locating ferrule that fits into the top deck of the machine. If all that is correct, disconnect the spring end of the old cable and disassemble the adjuster from its bracket. Tip the mower onto its right side (petrol will drip from the tank cap so be aware that you must take precautions and get on with the job). Looking beyond the blade you will see the inner cable coming down to a lever. Unhook the cranked nipple from the lever, pull out the plastic ferrule and the old cable should now be free. Push the cranked nipple end of the cable through the top deck of the mower and locate the ferrule in the hole. Locate the cranked nipple into the lowermost hole in the clutch lever. Put the mower back onto 4 wheels. Locate the adjuster into its bracket and hook the spring end of the cable onto the clutch lever. All that remains is to adjust the clutch to work properly. If you need to know how to do that, either refer to manual or post a further question on this site.
