The speed sensor is located on top of the automatic gearbox, underneath the engine mount. Before you replace the speed sensor, is your automatic gearbox stuck in limp home mode (3rd gear)? If not then there's no need to replace the sensor. I've just replaced mine and wasted £52.. Plus you have to cut the plug from the end of the sensor and wire it directly in to the wiring loom.. It wasn't an easy job and it was a waste of time. I'm now trying to get hold of a wiring diagram so I can trace the wiring to see if its that. If not it's about £700 for a new display, marvelous ehh!!
