Left over piece from Simpson Sirocco repair (scratches head!) ?

Just finished fixing a broken lint filter sprigot on a Simpson Sirocco 500 (395S500J) - ($30 on ebay if anyone else is having that problem).... anyway I digress -

after putting back together I have this little metal wire left over. Its about as thick as a coathanger and about 10cm long and in a funny shape - kind of like this ... [________/, but not really.

I know it clips onto the motor assembly somewhere, but can't find the two spots.

If anyone has one of these, could you have a look and tell me?

The dryer seems to work ok without it, but I don't know if its important (ie helps keep wires out of the way or something)?

What Tom said. I've just had a similar Simpson model in pieces (Maxidry 457) and that part you mention is a kind of motor body stabilizer. In my various attempts to reassemble the dryer, I forgot a couple of times to replace that clip/spring but the motor still operated fine. Just wish I could work out the darn idler arm & spring attachment, I'm still in the dark despite reading several others' same problem/solution on this and similar models.

You probably already worked it out by now but, it is a clip that goes from the front to the back bracket. You will see holes that it fits into. Drier shouldn't have problems without it - that I could envisage. Only know the answer to tis cos had same problem.
