My shredder is not jammed, but will not operate in any mode, automatic, forward or reverse. It is a Xerox XRX-8X--8 sheet cross cut. I have checked the electric outlet and went through the booklet.

I can't help you on the repair, but may I suggest you put the basket up for auction on Ebay?? I'd bid on it. The top of my shredder runs great, but the basket is cracked at the sensor point. It's a pain to get it into the right position to run. I can only imagine others have had a similar problem.

If it sounds like it's running, but the blades aren't turning, you have a stripped gear. Good Luck trying to find a gear to fix it. You're better off just buying a new shredder. Please take the old shredder (and any old electronics) to Goodwill, or to an electronics recycler for proper disposal.
