CENTRAL HEATING TANK IN LOFT OVERFILLING WHY?

I FIITED A NEW BALLCOCK IN TANK BUT THE TANK IS STILL FILLING TO OVERFLOW CAN THE TANK BACK FILL FROM THE SYSTEM ANYHOW? I THOUGHT WATER ONLY CAME IN TO TANK FROM SUPPLY

could be the cold feed into the house crossing over in the back of a mixer tap and pussing up through the system and into the water tank, you havent stated which tank.

water can backfill on both tanks.

f/e can backfill from a split coil in cylinder.
cws tank can backfill from the cylinder caused by cold mains entering into hot gravity.

what tank is backfilling need more info.

its a feed and expansion tank so yes it will rise when heating on for example. you may have the float set too high so it overflows when expansion occurs
