My zanussi jetsystem 1250 smells, and I notice there is a water under the plastic filter which I have cleaned...any ideas?

There is always water left in the filter so that is normal. The smell is probably from detergent build up so do a maintenance boil wash, just bung in an old towel and only a little detergent and select boil/whites wash. Do this once a month and that should keep the smells away.
