My hot water tap stops when the hot water comes through?

My bathroom sink hot tap runs when first turned on. However, as the warm water starts to come through, it dribbles off into nothing. The bath hot water tap is fine. How can I fix this please?

hi jinny , turn the cold or hot water off at valve stop tap the red knob in the airing cupboard , then turn the hot on till it stops . flip the cap off the tap with a screw driver and this will reveal a screw for you to undo and lift off tap knob . undo the the big nut from the tap housing it may be tight ! take the whole thing to a good plumber merchants (plumb centre)they will give you a new one to replace. it works on a helix thread and the little clip stops it going into the tap when you turn it on . the clip can be put back on but needs to wound back in first . so it may be easier just to buy a new one I hope this can help to you . this is common on hot water taps . kind regards phil- email nolightpollution@aol.com

it sounds like you may have a build up of limescale, you could try undoing hot tap and see if will flush through, but prepare for amess,or you could have to drain hot water cylinder and cut anew length of pipe running from bath to sink you can use 22mm copper or plastic pushfit fittings coupler and pipe, but check the size of the old pipes.hope that helps you.best o luck
