Ryobi RLT30CESA keepds dying?

I bought a brand new Ryobi RLT30CESA - all set up as per instructions. It starts first time / every time with pulls chord and ticks over no problem - as soon as I press the throttle it dies - if you let the trigger back off quickly the engine stays running but it has never turned the head of teh strimmer - the 2 halves are attached correctly and both inside pieces spin freely
Any help much appreciated unless its back to B&Q?!!

The Carbs on the ryobi are not very good. Mine has always done the same from new. Mine also fails to start again if hot and it stops. Just been to my maintenance friend to have a look at it and he took carb to bits cleaned it and it ran ok for a few days but hay ho back to the same problem. New carb is £36.22 plus fitting. not worth it when new one is now only £107.00, Buy a tin of easy start and use it until engine burns out then bin it. thats what I say.

Check the fuel line for a crack which is letting in air instead of fuel. The fuel lines are vunerable where they curve and need replacing every now and then.

Jim,

If its any help - mine does the same.
Except that it will start and run then, after a while, "die" and won't restart until the engine is very cold.

try letting the engine run freely for about 30 secs after starting, then gently pull/pump the trigger, when you hear the engin slowing down, let go of the trigger, then repeat. I do this with mine and it works fine. Good machines.
