What is this light telling me?

There is an orange light on my dash board that has been flashing (sometimes) for about a week.
It looks like a person with a seatbelt on with a circle in front of their face. I'm assuming it is the air bag but have had a look in a Fiesta book that i was kinndly given when i bought the car but it doesnt seem to have reference to this symbol.

The car is an N reg 1998 1.25 Ford Fiesta.

Any advice would be grately appreciated! :)

No seatbelt warning on this year of Fiesta

It sounds like the light is a seatbelt warning light. Either (a) you don't have your seatbelt on, (b) your passenger doesn't have their seat belt on (c) there is something in one of the seats that is heavy enough that the sensor thinks it's a person sitting there without their seatbelt on -- or -- the sensor is defective. It has nothing to do with air bags.

Hi Aimee, the airbag symbol depending on the model, if you have a rev counter is by the 4500 rpm and if no rev counter is by the drivers door on the picture of the car, this light should come on when you first switch the ignition on and stay on for about 5~7 seconds then go out, if it's flashing it means there is a fault quite often it's the wiring going to the sealbelt tensioners under the seats, the connectors get pulled as the seat is adjusted back and forth, have a look and see if the connectors are fully connected, the connectors are easy to spot they are yellow and the wiring is covered in a yellow sleeve
