clutch cable repair, peugeot 205 diesel?

The clutch pedal has dropped to the floor and I cannot engage any gears. How do I repair the cable?

hi - i'm no expert, but your cable may have broken or come astray, however it could be a nut or two come off the end, where it connects to the moving arm, on top of the engine, under the battery, but nearer to the front - a threaded stem should pass through a large round washer looking bit, with a nut or two on the end to stop it pulling through when you push on the pedal. If its all there, pull the cable about a bit, it goes off to the left, around to the back of the engine compartment, and see if its connected. If so you have to take the panels under the steering column off and look, good luck!

You can't repair it Kevin - it just needs a new one. These clutches aren't self adjusting so its a case of releasing the old one - it takes a fairly tortuous route around the bottom of the front subframe - and undoing the 2 nuts that secure it to the operating arm on the top of the gearbox. You can then unhook the other end of the cable from the pedal.
