Dead simple as its a canister element and usually easily accessible. Before you start though, see if you can unscrew the old filter first - often they are too tight to undo by hand so you may need to buy a filter wrench. If possible, fill the new filter with oil, rub some oil around the rubber ring and screw it back on finger tight, then a further 1/2 turn with a wrench. If you are changing the oil as well, buy a new sump seal that goes over the drain plug.
