What do two flashing lights mean on Indesit D41 dishwasher?

This Indesit D41 dishwasher starts its cycle and within a few minutes it beeps and stops, then the first two of four indicator lights on the control panel start to flash continuously. Something is obviously wrong, but what? Any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated, I am a qualified electronic/electrical engineer so fully appreciate the electricity/water problems.

how do i clean the water pump on my IDL 700/?

I have an IDL 700 with the aforementioned 4 lights. Over the past year and a half I have seen the service engineer on 6 separate occasions for various flashing lights. The last time was for the first two and as I had not yet found this page I paid the service engineer (as the unit is now out of warranty to look at it.) The drain pump contained two lemon pips!! I was watching closely and it has recently done it again and I found a sizeable piece of wood.

Procedure - empty all water - incline unit 45 degrees backwards - remove bottom panel - from pump unit remove 1 retaining screw, electical connector (it was a good idea to unplug the unit first) and the rubber hose clamp - turn the pump carefully anticlockwise and remove to a nearby sink to remove whatever the filters have failed to - reassemble. Oh yes you have about a pint of water to clear up. It has now worked for me twice perfectly, however the best advise I saw on this page is don't buy an Indesit.

It must be the luck of the draw, I have a Dishwasher from Comet which is a rebadged Indesit and even whilst it was in a shared flat with 5 other people and was used every day it kept on going.

The problem with my dishwasher is now resolved, the pump bearing/seal leaks water into the catch tray at the bottom and a polystyrene float activates the water pump continuously, rendering the machine unusable. At around £80 just for the pump, which I'm told is never a very successful repair because replacing it disturbs so many joints etc, it seems it is uneconomical to repair!! My advice is - don't buy an Indesit dishwasher!!

Gary,

I now have the single flashing light, as you do. There was no blockage in the pump and after putting it back together the pump ran for a short time, then it made an odd noise and the machine just sat blinking at me. Don't know what to do now, it's really frustrating when you can't identify any real problem! Thanks for the input anyway.

Hi Dave I now know that your 2 flashing lights mean that your water pump is blocked or broken. I have just unblocked mine. However on testing I find that it runs for 20 secs before the damn thing stops working again and displays just the first light flashing. I can feel the money being ripped from pocket by the new D/W salesman grrrrr!

Sorry Dave I have no answer for you. The thing is... exactly the same problem has happend to my m/c and I wondered if you had found out about the error lights or indeed a solution yet? I would appreciate your comments.
Good luck if not.
