How do I repair my Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care Electric Dryer that won't heat?

I have a Kenmore UltraFabric Care electric dryer that runs well, but will not heat. The model # is 110.86983110 and Serial # is MA4346797. I haven't been able to find much help on the internet as far as how to take the dryer apart to check for defective parts. I purchased a heating element for the dryer but need to know how to put it in or if that's not the problem, then what else to look for. I'm not willing to spend a bunch of money fixing it or hiring a repairman, this dryer is around 10+ years old and I bought the set for $150. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I have the same Dryer and have replaced the Thermal Fuse once before. That is most likely the problem but it could be the Heater Elemant also the only way to tell for sure is take it apart and test it with a meter. You can search for your model # on this web page and get the parts diagram, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action
You may be able to get a user manual but I don't think it will be much help. Just start taking it apart and with the parts diagram you should be able to locate both the heater element and the fuse. You can test the fuse with an ohm meter and see if it is an open circuit accross the fuse or not. if it is open then it is no good. I am doing the same thing to mine today, thats why I am on this page looking for answers also. Good luck to you. Dennis
