As an X vauxhall mechanic i`d like to say yes it can be done BUT special tools are required to re-time the engine, not a job for the light hearted.... This engine also sufferd from poor oil feed to the timing chain.

Yes can be replaced ,probably will need the head skimmed (to make it fit perfectly) & it is a time consuming job so be prepared for time & price. Still nowhere near price of a 2nd hand replacement engine fitted tho'.

yes, it can be replaced, don't let them charge you like they did my mother in law. I own oone of these and it can be changed!!!! Good luck
