Hi Bob, usually the general wear on the watch makes it go slow, all the bits rattling about instead of running smoothly.
There will be a regulator on the back of the watch inside the case. It will have a screw with + and - as the markings.
Usually a watch repairer will do it but all he will do is tweak the screw towards the - direction to slow it down.
It will be a "suck it and see" job until the watch runs more accurate.
