My shower is spurting out water from where the hose connects to the shower unit, I have tried a new washer but that hasn't helped, do you think it could be the hose?

If you fitted the correct size rubber (not fibre) washer then there shouldn't be any leak at all.....however, disconnect the shower hose again, check for any cracks or damage and do the same at the shower outlet. Shower hoses are usually reversable so if you swap the ends around you may have more success at sealing the shower spray head end.
