FIESTA IMMOBILISER PROBLEM?

hi there,
my friends Y reg ford fiesta stopped working, well it wouldn't start, we called the AA, who in the end said it was problem with the immobiliser, the "control panel" ??
they have now towed it off to FORD, any idea's on how much this is going to cost??

My son has fiesta 53 plate and he tried to jump it with jump leads .since then the immobilser is locked on . when you turn the key the normal ignition lights come on then the imobiliser light continualy flashes. Any ideas

Hi Terri, if it has the ford fitted immobiliser there is no control panel!! there is the sensor mounted around the ignition switch. The ford garage will first put it on their diagnostic reader which is around £80+vat that will tell them what the fault is, so from there on the cost could be anything!! the immobiliser is part of the engine ECU and Fords price for that is about £130+vat if it is the ECU have a look at www.autotekelectronics.com they do replacement ECU's upto 50% less than dealer prices some even greater discount! just enter your car reg number on the site and it will automatically find the correct part for your car.
