Countax C800 no power uphill?

My Countax C800 works ok on the level but slows right down uphill. It seems to get have less power the longer I use it until it will no longer go uphill at all. I wondered if the drive belt had stretched but our local service agent thought this unlikely and could not recall having to change a main drive belt on a Countax.

Any ideas woul be most appreciated.

had the same problem on mine. £600 plus labour quoted to replace.
Friend stripped down hydrostatic unit and found filter blocked. Seems to have made a big difference

if the transmission has gone what does it cost to replace

Sorry to say it appears that your Hydro transmission is about to give up completely.

Before comdemning it, it's worth checking that the cooling fan on the axle is not damaged, and that there is an adequate flow of cooling air. If the axle overheats, the oil will thin out, which will cause power loss.
