Hi morag, the book time for replacing the starter motor is between 0.5 & 1.25 hours depending on the year and engine size, as to cost main dealer probably charging £90/hr to a local garage £45/hr and I think Halfords will fit for a small fee, and you will need to know your radio security code as they should disconnect the battery to fit the starter motor
