rewire mower from battery to solenoid(murray 12 hp mower)?

bought mower used,seat safety switch bypassed..when battery is hooked to solenoid engine turns over with key in off position....all ignition wires appear to be intact(not sure if wiring is correct at solenoid,there are 2 red,1 yellow,1` black. i have a new solenoid. From keyswitch to motor wires appear to be intact.....Thanks for any info

There are two wires coming from a connector under the carburetor and I don't know where to connect them. Thanks

If engine cranks when the battery is connected to the small terminal on the solenoid, the solenoid itself, and the heavy wirng to the starter is obviously OK.

It sounds like you have a safety interlock problem - usually it's the brake switch, as it gets the most wear. The seat switch is not usually in the start circuit, it's connected to the ignition cut-off. The cutter deck switch is also a possibility.

u say engine turns over when key is in off pos?then fault is in key switch.when key is turned bat+ voltage is temporaraly fed to solenoid,only while in start possition,when in run pos this voltage is off.suspect ignition switch
