how to replace a clutch cable on a mountfield hp470?

Mountfield lawn mower clutch cable
Lee, June 2008
To detach the cable at the geabox end, you will have to remove the whole rear axle assembly from the mower. Nat s bas a job as you might think. Various ways of fixing it have been used over the years, but usually it's just a matter of removing 4 bolts that clamp the axle to the body pan, and pulling the entire assy off the mower. The biggest problem is that you have to do it without tipping the engine on it's side.

You can either drain all the oil out of the engine, or find a way of supporting the mower with the spark plug pointing straight up.

Not a difficult job, but a bit of a chore all the same.
